Being that I am a second generation Italian american, I find it imperative that I keep my families love for wine alive.
I know that’s just an excuse, I really love drinking wine. I enjoy the art of wine, the flavors, the color, the smell and the sound of a great bottle being open for the first time.
I love not knowing what the wine will taste like and just to know that every bottle is different you never know what to expect.
I understand the hard work that is put into making a great bottle of wine. So much love, thought and time and experience has to go into just producing one bottle.
Remarkably there are many benefits from a glass of red wine.
Certain benefits include:
- Smoking: Helps repair impaired vessels and decrease the harmful effect on the endothelium that were damaged from smoking.
- Heart Disease: Reduces the risk of coronary heart disease by reducing production of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and boosting high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
- Blood clots: Light to moderate consumption of wine lowers levels of protein fibrinogen which promotes blood clot formation.
- Hypertension: Two glasses of red wine taken together with the meal may lower post-meal blood pressure in hypertensive persons.
- Atherosclerosis: May help prevent the initiation and progression of hardening of the arteries. Red wine appears to maintain healthy blood vessels because of the nitric oxide (NO).
- Alzheimer’s disease: Resveratrol, a red wine polyphenol, produces neuroprotective effects which correlates with lowering risks for Alzheimer’s disease.
- Kidney stones: Reduces the risk of kidney stone formation.
- Most beneficial alcoholic drink over beer or spirits.
Tomorrow my Uncle Eric will go over how you can make a bottle of table wine! Have you ever been curious how to make wine? Find out more tomorrow.
