Researchers came to the conclusion that there are some potential risks if you consumer ginger with certain health conditions.
For instance, if you have any stomach acid problems, ginger can increase the production of stomach acid. So please be careful and consult with your physician before using ginger.
Also, there have been reports that ginger root can cause blockage of the intestines. If you have a history of ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease or a blocked intestines please do not ingest freshly cut ginger root and avoid it all together.
Ginger can also potentially lower blood pressure and may cause abnormal heart rhythms.
There also have been mixed feelings about using ginger during pregnancy. “A survey has found that whereas 55 percent of sources recommended ginger as being safe and effective in pregnancy, 16 percent stated that ginger should not be used in pregnancy due to its potential to cause miscarriage.”
If you are using ginger for morning sickness, please use cautiously. Even though it’s not proven that ginger can cause miscarriages it’s better to use it in small doses.
