The infrared sauna emerged in the late 60’s and was promoted as a sauna that had lower electricity costs, lower air temperature and no humidity compared to the traditional saunas on the market.
The infrared heat is used to directly penetrate the body’s tissues to a depth of over 1½ inches right into the muscle. Its energy output is tuned to match closely to our body’s radiant energy. Close to 93% of the infrared’s waves are actually absorbed into our skin.
Infrared heater facts:
- Infrared heat is measured in microns.
- Our bodies emit infrared heat naturally at 9.4 microns.
- The closer your heaters are releasing 9.4 microns the more your body will absorb as it strikes a balance.
- Infrared heaters, should produce heat between 8-11 microns.
The micrometre is a common unit of measurement for wavelengths of infrared radiation.
There are many claimed benefits on the infrared sauna. Some in which I’m greatly impressed by.
I try to use an infrared sauna from 3-4 times weekly. It’s one of my favorite pass times to read, meditate or just to get my thoughts organized.
Tomorrow you will have a better understanding of the infrared sauna benefits. Some of these benefits I have experienced first hand.
